What a long week, Sunday is my friday with my current schedule, but today was overwhelming, I just kept getting this feeling that without God’s love and security the week would have been a lot more worse. I’ve never in my life thought being in tears over happiness of God would be a day if my life, where others cry in frustration and anger that things aren’t going right, I realized I really wanted to worship God more today and all I got was a busy day, where I just wanted to run home and read the word, anyone ever felt like that? I guess when you really feel like God is your heavenly father then you act like his children and look to him for all things…any way onto the show, the fifth commandment.
Fifth Commandment - Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and mother, that you may long endure on the land that the LORD your God is assigning you.”
Many of us say we honor our mother and father but what we really mean to say is we tolerate them, that is a big difference than honoring. We may not have had the best parents and they may not have had the best children so with that in mind, we know they grew up in a different generation but that doesn’t mean they are not wise. With that being said not all the things are parents say are constructive or loving and on the then other end, to our parents of the things we say but do we truly honor them in the aspect that they are part of God’s plan that brought you into this earth and brought about your characteristics whether you like them or not?
Just remember in reference to the bible if Israel’s blatant disrespect had be tolerated by God, and not punished, our bible would be watered down as well as our faith. Let us stand tall in our faith and if your parents don’t have it, teach them, if they don’t listen to be about it so they may see the purpose of giving glory to the Father who created us all for that is our purpose, anything else is running to grave faster.
I could keep going back and forth not blaming either but from personal experience honoring your mother and father is understanding where they come from, the experiences they’ve had, the decisions they made whether it was to provide or not provide for you and learning from their good decisions or bad ones. Do you tolerate your parents? Or do you truly honor them? For without them God’s plan wouldn’t be unfolding in your life right now. Forget mother’s day and father’s day, honoring them is daily, the LORD bless you and keep you all in His will starting the next week.
If you read here and don’t post at least pray for me and each other. Good night and blessings to all who are searching for the truth.
Anyone else finding delight like I am in this? Soooooo….we are on to number 4.
Fourth Commandment- Sabbath Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the sabbath day and keep it holy, six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God: you shall not do work-your son or daughter, your male or female slave or your cattle, or the stranger who is within your settlements. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth and sea, and all that is in them, and He rested on the seventh day, therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.”
When did our sabbath lose its meaning? Maybe it was when tv stations figured the days people would be off work it would be easier to distract them with programming, advertisements that you worked hard and you need a break….no its none of the above its the lack of reverence for the LORD God. Why would you not want to dedicate a day of yours to the LORD, people pray for God’s blessings but don’t observe a holy day, did you forget what holidays really were? Look at the Jewish now with their celebrations from the Old testament, each was a thanksgiving to LORD not a thanksgiving to one’s self for the government giving you a day off to spend money casually or make you feel bad because everyone else is off but you.
More importantly, we should be running on empty and tired but God should refuel us. Re-energize us, lift our spirits and all your actions and all your thoughts apart from God are vanity, a chasing of the wind, foolishness. The clothes will fade and break down just like a lifestyle without God will break you down. The paper money will run out and at some time may be obsolete but the paper in your bible is divinely inspired and means just as much as it did then as it does now. People die for their decision to be a Christian even now, families disown them, they are ridiculed, no not in America we have free will for God to not choose Him, His laws, His will, His way of living and thinking, is that you reader?
Let the fourth commandment remind you that when you rest, so did the LORD after creating everything you take for granted or forget about thanking him and confide within the LORD, give Him what is due to Him and don’t use it as a day of mindless self indulgence. If this Sunday will be your first, I beseech you to take it seriously, observing the sabbath doesn’t end with church or begin there, it starts in your temple, the one created, your body.
It brings me much joy to say I remembered the first two commandments, if you don’t it then you’re missing the flavor of the kool-aid people! Onto the the third one today, I’m so excited already. Third Commandment- Swearing/Lord’s name in vain Exodus 20:7 - You shall not swear falsely by the name of the LORD your GOD; for the LORD will not clear one who swears falsely by His name (JPS) Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain (KJV) Two very great translations, one from the Jewish Publication Society (from the original hebrew) and King James Version. This one goes with the previous two, no pun intended we have a sworn duty to our GOD. People used to and still do swear by GOD, for there is non greater than Him but if they fail, who looks bad? GOD. The guilt would rest on you, swearing by the LORD’s name doesn’t improve yourself, doesn’t vouch for the integrity of your word. Let alone should it be used a cuss word, “Oh my GOD! did you see that!” Let’s be careful with our words, shall we? For the One who created everything, we throw His name around for fun, we poke fun at Him and Jesus in cartoon shows like family guy or South Park and say it’s not that bad. We want to curse Him when something bad happens and forget about Him when something good happens, crack your bible people, stop talking about Heaven and learn about the Creator of it. Get a heart for God like King David, patience like Job, faith like Abraham and stop defending the world and defend your God. He made atonement for all your bad deeds and you have nothing good to say about Him? Sleep well my brothers and sisters, may the word of God, the double-edged sword do it’s work as it has and always will.
I hope everyone takes it upon themselves to learn these commandments on a deeper level and not just face value for rules, I found myself repeating, “you should have no other Gods besides me” over and over in my head and how God had delivered me from my previous life style but more importantly the current struggles I have now that I would have succumbed to a long time ago if not for the Holy GOD i serve. I hope you readers as well are attempting to memorize these and take them to heart, one day at a time, I encourage all of you to continue to fight the good fight.
So the moment you have been all waiting for…
2nd Commandment - Graven Images Exodus 20:4-6 “You shall not make for yourself a graven sculptured image, or any likeness of what is in heavens above or on the earth below, or in the waters under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them. For I the LORD your GOD am an impassioned GOD, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation of those who reject Me but showing kindness to the thousandth generation of those who love Me and keep my commandments.” (JPS)
This seems outdated and foolishly I felt this way saying to myself this is ridiculous who would make images of GOD? Well reading the bible we learn there are golden calves popping up repeatedly (from the Egyptians religious background) as well as worship of kings as a god and that’s just in the old testament. Fast forward to the new testament and history shows the Christians who wouldn’t renounce GOD would be put in that coliseum to be eaten by lions or killed for entertainment of the Romans! When in Rome do as the Romans was not a good thing!
Maybe for some its hard to fathom that GOD can be a jealous GOD but should he not want his people, to worship Him and not other gods and do things that are against his nature? Why do you think Israel always referenced as a marriage and being unfaithful? Would you want your wife or husband flirting and messing around on you because since you loved them they knew you would forgive their sinful life? No.
Reflect upon yourself now, would God call you unfaithful in putting other gods before him, yeah maybe it’s not a golden calf but it could be music idols, explicit things on the computer or anything that that God himself made that you give more time and more worship than Him! Is it drugs? Alcohol? What do we run to when we get home? What do we look for when we wake up? Those are the modern gods of the day, which are you worshiping in spiritual ignorance?
**I reference the JPS the Jewish Publication Society/Tanakh which is closer to the New King James Version, also if you do read this and are in total confusion about the guilt being revisited upon the children, message me and I can explain. ^_^**
There has a been quite a long silence on this page so with my recent studies, I wonder if we as Christians truly delight in the laws of the LORD? We are judged by the unbending law of the LORD, whom his holiness is infinite, maybe that’s hard to understand for some, maybe to some it makes perfect sense, either way it should always be a reminder of what we are judged by in the end that we take lightly living our daily lives not putting GOD first.
So I wanted to review the 10 commandments which in my youth never made sense to me why it was so important, it was because no one ever explained the connection between the old covenant and the new covenant. The importance of how GOD stays true to the law while we don’t just like Israel in its folly time and time again. I wanted to review one commandment a day, for us to meditate on and just remember we all still have a long way to go in our christian walk.
Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods besides (over) me.” (JPS)
Where does God stand in our life? Not putting God first in our life can not only lead our spiritual life which makes a domino effect for trouble. When Jesus was asked the most important commandment, first was love the LORD GOD. Old and new covenant still focused on the GOD before any other commandments were to be followed. Amazing isn’t it? Go back.
Exodus 20:1-2 “God spoke all these words saying: I the LORD am your GOD who brought you out of the land of Egypt, the house of bondage.
The LORD lead the Israelites out of bondage, Jesus lead us out of the bondage of slavery. The LORD lead the Israelites out of Egypt were they were foreigners and lead them to the promised land, through all the miracles not all made the right decision so 40 years of wondering in the wilderness not all stepped foot into the promised land. The same is now, not all professing to be Christians will make it into heaven, the journey is a hard one that will bring out the faithful who love GOD and put him first. Meditate on the 1st commandment and see how you can put GOD first today.
Remember the LORD abides by all HIS laws, we may fall short but we should always stand by them for HE is our righteousness there is none in us. For even the heart is devious, it is perverse who can fathom it. (jer 17:18)
It’s that rush of blood that goes to your head when you know you should have went to sleep three hours ago when you got light-headed but decided to ignore it.
Still you think maybe if you stay up a little bit longer that you can fight off that void that is eating up your insides hoping maybe it will decide to let up and go easy on you but it doesn’t.
Surely you can shake this off but it’s not her fault is it that you can’t stop thinking about her. Surely she can’t relieve the migraine that stormed in about twenty minutes ago but if you convince yourself she can, then surely she will. You can make believe anything you want to and lie until you forget it’s not the truth.
Who’s voice above all rings true in my ear drums in complete silence? Too many nights like these make the days run together. Too many lies like I’ve told make them easy to believe as the truth. This deceitful heart of mine produces only good intentions never any good actions maybe that’s why I’m ok with this image of her I’ve painted.
I can only make it better without me being there in reality to mess the relationship up. Reluctantly I can close my eyes and try to block out the pain in my skull yet still the memories or fabrications still wont leave. The problem isn’t in my heart or my head, she attached to my soul so even when I’m alone she’s there, perfect as the day we met.
Soon maybe that blood vessel will explode in my head and out will the feelings come pouring out for her or maybe soon I’ll drift off into a restless sleep and suffer the same fate every night, tethered to her shadow scared to behold her for who she is.
The news today said love is a business that overcomes the economy, an estimate of 18 billion to be spent on candy and flowers….is that how the world sees love? God is love and our love is a mere puny fraction of what it should be. Pray for eachother and especially your loved ones to learn the true meaning.
